โ–ถSummary

Physical inactivity is increasing worldwide, resulting in physical and health shortages in later life. A social problem that we must work on together for a healthier society, especially to help the resilience after the Covid-19 pandemic, which severely affected regular physical exercise during the lockdown measures. This is a serious threat to the health and well-being of the population, which will result in increased dysfunctions such as obesity, stress, etc. Facing these challenges, the project will implement a European-wide sport event in Amsterdam to promote the regular practice of calisthenics as a means to improve health, physical exercise, and sports practice at every level, especially in the most vulnerable citizens. Calisthenics is very simple to exercise, a sport easily accessible for young and old people simply by using the body weight, at every level and wherever you live, without costs and in full respect of the environment. The project core activity is a 2-day European Calisthenics event that will be attended by 5.000 to 8.000 persons daily from at least 10 countries. Elite coaches, athletes, volunteers and citizens will be engaged. Three competition groups will be organized (senior, persons with disabilities, youth) together with 144+ workshops, animations, virtual areas, and other side activities. Other deliverables: 1) Training for coaches and volunteers ahead of the sport event; 2) Digital tools to enable sustainable e-tournaments, training, and networking (online platform and mobile app): 3) Extensive communication activity through multiple media. Expected impact: 1) Enhanced visibility of calisthenics in Europe; 2) Enhanced relational level of the calisthenics movement towards the sport authorities; 3) Improved health and well-being in the population; 4) Increased digitalization of sport; 5) Reduced environmental impact of physical activity; 6) Relaunch of positive sport culture.
