GPS - Green skills and Peace through Sports

Living in challenging times of climate emergency, post COVID-19 pandemic recovery and a Russia-Ukraine war with huge risks for the world stability and economy, respectively for the youth as a vulnerable group of our societies, we need more than ever to think peace, to think green, to think health. The sport can play a pivotal role by giving opportunities for personal, socio-educational and professional development of young people in Europe, with the aim of leaving no one behind. In this regards the project "Green skills and Peace through Sports" [GPS] addresses the Horizontal priority in Erasmus+ “inclusion and diversity” by promoting specifically the European values of peace and solidarity, environmental sustainability as well as the education and employability through sport. The target groups are:*young people (aged 16-24, 50% of whom with fewer opportunities due to socio-economic reasons) at the transition from education to the labour market;*Physical educators and coaches, teachers and trainers, *Educational and sports institutions. The main objective of the project is to promote education in and through sport with a special focus on the development of EU values, green mindset and skills of the future among youth, by elaborating a Handbook with an innovative methodology. The teams of Association Sports Europe, Bulgaria, Federation of Sport Pedagogues, North Macedonia and Democritus University of Thrace, Greece with a mutually complementing expertise and strive for good neighbourly relations will elaborate innovative methodology (that combines through ETS - the green key competences in sustainability with skills of the future); organize 1 KOM,2 online events,2 EWoS events and create a digital platform as OER. By using the Education Through Sport [ETS] approach, the project will provide more than 120 participants with a “GPS” for *the dynamic and challenging labour market of 21st century and *the spirit of reconciliation, trust and cooperation.
