NEST23 - New European Sport innovation for physical activity and recreation 4 All
▶Summary
NESt23 WeGolf Project initiative is encouraged by European policy of development and implementation of physical activity, aiming to increase and diversify the opportunity of outdoor recreation to segments of population that do not have the habit to exercise on a regular basis. The proposal enhances the principle of social inclusion in the field of sport, also underlined in the White Paper for Sport, involving participation of European youth athletes/trainers/teachers. Following the priorities of the Work Plan, in particular “Sport as a framework for personal, social and learning skills”, the Project aims to educate and vocationally train new professional figures (WeGolf Instructors) to be employed on regular basis, in line with social distancing instructions, in recreational activities and small events. 90 new sport professionals will be trained in short and medium term (18 months of project duration) and 20.000 direct and indirect target group beneficiaries of NESt23 outcomes and results will widen visibility in the 24 months following Project termination. Golf is a sport too often considered expensive, tedious, difficult, elitist, therefore difficult to access for a wider public. One of limitations is lack of courts and facilities to deploy the activities, given the high cost to build courses and the vast grounds needed to play the game, golf reasonably couldn't be a widespread sport. Project aims to widen the WeGolf concept, involving hundreds of participants that never played golf before and easing them approach to the discipline, at very low cost and without awe, allowing anyone to learn basics and play in only few minutes. Sport has the capacity to gather people together, independently of their national, cultural and social differences. When played with genuine passion and respecting fundamental values - such as tolerance, mutual understanding, respect and solidarity - it creates a sense of belonging and supports social inclusion.
