The PROMISE (steP foRward fOr woMen In basketball) general objective is to promote the inclusion and participation of girls and women in basketball at all levels of responsibilities through the design, implementation, and evaluation of a holistic intervention programme. PROMISE is fully aligned with the Erasmus+ Sport specific priority ‘Combating violence and tackling racism, discrimination, and intolerance in sport (including gender equality). The project will conduct focus groups involving all participant federations and 216 European stakeholders to assess the current situation of women in basketball, as well as the PROMISE programme methodology which will be implemented in all the 6 countries that make up the consortium. Overall, PROMISE will benefit a total of 150 different participants during the pilot clubs: athletes, coaches, referees, federation management and staff, as well as 950 people who will be expected to be trained through the MOOC learning platform. The total number of athletes involved in the “transforming agents” programme which constitutes the core of PROMISE will be 500. PROMISE will also conduct 4 events, to gather participants and disseminate the results of previous activities and organize new ones with a total number of 325 participants in all the events conducted during the project. The PROMISE partnership is comprised of 7 organisations covering 6 European countries (Spain, Ireland, Kosovo, Portugal, France, and Bulgaria). It has a wide and diverse geographic coverage that is further enhanced by the participating organisations’ extensive sport networks which can leverage synergies with other local and regional initiatives as well as European projects in the field. The partnership is a combination of one academic organisation (URL), in charge of designing and evaluating tools, 4 national basketball federations (FRA BF, IRI BF, POR BF, BUL BF, KOS BF) and 1 regional basketball federation (CAT BF).
