Summary

General objective of European TEAM cup project is to encourage participation in sport and physical activity and promote health benefits of mini football, 3x3 basketball and beach volleyball among university students of 12 European countries. We will organise an innovative European-wide sport event in Bratislava. It will: -combine sports and appealing social causes. -promote team sports as a tool for good physical, mental and social health. 27 partners across the fields of sports, higher education, and public institutions will be involved in awareness raising activities and encourage university students to take part in this new type of international sports event. Stages: After attracting 48 university students from the different countries with experience in practicing the three team sports. •First, they will undergo a training for leadership and motivational skills in Bratislava. They will exchange experience and expertise on how to use sport to promote community cohesion prior to the event •Secondly, these students will create in their countries national teams eager to practice regularly the 3 sports and contribute to the development of local communities by planning and implementing volunteering initiatives. •After 6 months of training all teams will gather and compete at the international event in Bratislava in September 2023. Beside sports competitions there will be also a competition of social community causes and presentation of the volunteer initiatives of the 48 student leaders and their teams. Results: 352 players, grouped in 48 teams, will compete in three tournaments–mini football, 3x3 basketball and beach volleyball. Teqball and Teqvoly will be promoted as innovative team sport alternatives. The event will also promote collective sports - Yoga, Zumba, Jumping, CrossFit – as attractive non-competitive group physical activities. A legacy conference will be organised addressing policies on mainstreaming team sports in the policy agendas of the 12 countries.
