CityGreenGo - City, Green, Go!

Providing sport and physical activity (PA) opportunities and encouraging citizens to live an ecologically conscious life should be the priorities of all European cities. City, Green, Go! will tap into the opportunities that urban settings provide to act upon these priorities. We aim to provide relevant stakeholders - sports and environmental organisations, local authorities and companies - with a directory to increase the sport and PA levels and the environmental awareness of the urban population. We will carry out research on practices of eco-friendly sports and of environmental messaging in cities. Then, a best practice collection will be set up as an individual output that will also be part of the directory. Further elements of the directory are protocols to identify key stakeholders, to create eco-conscious sports activities and to embed sports into environmental projects. The directory will also contain a guide on how to spread environmental messages at sites of urban sports. Itineraries of online and onsite workshops will be developed and tested as well. These will be guidance on how to run workshops that use the directory. Based on the feedback collected after the testing workshops, the directory will be finalised and published in an open-access way. The partners are experts in their fields; the sport and the environmental sector and urban planning. Together we will deliver a project that will serve our direct target audience; members of the sport and the environmental sector and local authorities. Through a strong communication campaign, the project will reach a wider European audience as well. The benefits of living an eco-conscious and active life cross borders. Thus, our objectives are pan-European. Increased PA levels can lead to more sociable and healthier Europeans, with longer active life-expectancy. Their increased environmental awareness can lead them to make “greener” choices that will benefit our continent, its population and its flora and fauna.
