HIEP - Handball International Education Project
โถSummary
European average shows that less than 45% of the population plays a sport at least once a week (with a difference of 5% between men and women). According to WHO (2016 Ending Childhood Obesity report), 81% of adolescents do not achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity each day. In addition, the same document shows how in Europe the prevalence of overweight in children under 5 years of age is the highest in the world with a value higher than 12% (by 5 percentage points higher than the second). The covid-19 pandemic has further accentuated the phenomenon. The "Handball International Education Project" seeks to address this social issue by involving younger generations in this sport, which has grown to become one of the most popular team sports in the world, with over 20 million players worldwide. Competitions like the EHF Champions League in Europe attract up to 20,000 spectators each year, putting them on par with the World and European Championship finals. The project aims to address the horizontal priorities: - Inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth, and sport. The project aims to develop handball as it represents a suitable tool to promote the sport in children and young people. - Addressing digital transformation through the development of digital readiness, resilience, and capacity. The project aims at the creation of educational digital tools. An e-learning platform will be developed in which there will be modules for the training of coaches. Furthermore, all the materials of the project will be uploaded to the platform (manual included); examples, and advice for coaches to help them plan and implement courses.
