S4E - Swimming is For everyone
▶Summary
The S4E project, Swimming is for Everyone, promotes the practice of swimming as an educational tool. There are two main objectives: •inclusion of children aged 5 to 14 in social and economic hardship through sport •knowledge, considered as the result of a research and training process. S4E involves 3 organisations active in the promotion of sport as an integration tool: Ede Nuoto for Italy, Rijeka Disability Sports Association for Croatia and Spor Elcileri Dernegi for Turkey. The exchange of practices and experience between participating organisations aims to increase knowledge about integration through sport and to initiate actions to promote sport among the most disadvantaged groups in society. Cooperation between partners will address the adverse effects of the pandemic, both on sports organisations and on marginalised sections of the population. Swimming instructors will play a fundamental role both in the involvement of children and in the development of knowledge on teaching swimming in inclusive courses. The activities to achieve the objectives are: •the carrying out of a Research on the experiences of actions for integration through sport, to increase the methodological knowledge available to participants; •the production of Guidelines for Instructors and Staff of the participating organizations with the aim of providing a practical tool for instructors and improving the practices of organizations; •the Training of Instructors, to increase the skills of instructors and encourage the involvement of children from disadvantaged groups. The main outputs will be: S4E Research - A background research on the use of swimming as a form of social inclusion of children in distress. S4E Guidelines - Guidelines for the promotion and activation of swimming projects for disadvantaged groups of children and young people S4E Training Module - A training course for swimming instructors, with a focus on how to use swimming as a tool and occasion for social integration.
