COMBAT - Combating Obesity through Martial Arts Training
โถSummary
The project COMBAT (Combating Obesity through Martial Arts Training) aims to promote a healthier lifestyle by using martial arts as a tool to combat obesity and its related mental health issues. Our project comprises a consortium of organizations from Greece, Cyprus, and Italy, who will work together to implement various activities to encourage physical activity and improve mental well-being. Through COMBAT, we will offer free in-person martial arts training sessions that will be led by certified instructors and supported by nutrition education and psychological counseling to help individuals develop healthy habits. These sessions will be open to individuals of all ages and abilities and will focus on building strength, flexibility, and confidence. Additionally, we will develop and distribute instructional videos that showcase a variety of martial arts techniques, with an emphasis on movements and exercises that are accessible to individuals with different levels of fitness and mobility. These videos will promote a welcoming environment for individuals of all body types and abilities, including those who are obese, and provide modifications and adaptations for different body types and fitness levels. Our project will also involve outreach to local communities to raise awareness about the benefits of martial arts and physical activity. We will be partnering with sports clubs and other organizations to create a more welcoming environment for individuals of all body types and abilities. We will also be holding events and workshops to engage individuals and promote active lifestyles. Through our project, we hope to contribute to the fight against obesity and its related mental health issues by promoting the use of martial arts as a tool for physical and mental well-being. By implementing a variety of activities, both online and in-person, and partnering with local organizations, we aim to make a sustainable impact in our communities and beyond.
