โ–ถSummary

In light of the accelerated ageing of Europe the need for fostering understanding and solidarity between generations is becoming increasingly important. That is why Hiking4Understanding project is designed to respond to this need by utilizing potential of hiking as a tool for strengthening intergenerational dialogue and learning by engaging citizens across generations in joint educational hiking activities addressing two burning topics-environmental protection and inclusion. This will be achieved through H4U methodologies developed by a consortium of hiking club, eco camp and youth organizations from Serbia, North Macedonia and Belgium. Our main aim is to empower intergenerational dialogue and understanding in Europe through innovative H4U educational hiking programs addressing environmental protection and inclusion. This will be done through: SO1: Exploration of capacities of sports clubs (SC), eco camps (EC) and youth organizations (YO) in utilizing outdoor sport activities as a tool for empowering intergenerational dialogue. SO2: Development of H4U methodologies for boosting the intergenerational dialogue through hiking activities, their gamification, and adaptation for application in and beyond formal hiking practices. SO3: Enhancement of capacities of SC, EC and YO to support intergenerational dialogue by engaging citizens across generations in educational hiking programs promoting environmental protection and inclusion. SO4: Promotion of the importance and benefits of H4U outputs across Europe for boosting intergenerational dialogue, solidarity and understanding. SOs will be achieved through 10 tasks that will result in tailor-made H4U methodologies being developed and gamified, capacities of partners being raised, piloting activity with 24 people done, H4U online manual developed and published, interactive website produced, social media campaigns reaching 200.000 people implemented across Europe, and advocacy done through meetings with over 60 stakeholders.
