Festival 24
▶Summary
In July 2024, the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 (JOP 24) will draw the world’s attention to Europe, Paris becoming the world capital of sports for some weeks. The JOP 24 will be a unique opportunity to position the EU and Europe on a global stage as a leading actor in the interplay of sport, social inclusion, and gender equality. While the JOP 24 bring together athletes from around the world, Festival 24 will unite over 600 young people with fewer opportunities from 13 E+ Programme countries and beyond to celebrate the power of sport to foster social inclusion for 10 days in Lyon and Paris. Olympic and Paralympic sport activities, discovering the cities of Lyon and Paris, cultural exchange evenings, a conference on social inclusion through sports and the participation in an Olympic competition of the JOP 24 on July 27th will contribute to the achievement of the Festival objectives and its impact. Festival 24 will be a life-changing experience for the participants with fewer opportunities who will be able to meet peers from all over Europe and beyond, to grow as individuals and to reach beyond their potential. Given the gender gap in grassroots sport, Festival 24 will promote social inclusion with a special focus on gender equality. The project will increase the capacity of grassroots sport organisations in Europe and beyond, it will train young coaches to become advocates of inclusion and gender equality in their communities and will increase the motivation of participants to practice sports. On the long run, the project will cultivate inclusive and diverse societies through sports in Europe and beyond. Thanks to its experience and its partners’ support, Sport dans la Ville is in a unique position to offer an unforgettable experience for young people with fewer opportunities from Europe and beyond and to create a long-lasting social heritage of the JOP 24 for Europe and the European grassroots sport sector.
