Summary

Female Sport Leaders Promoting Gender Independent Physical Activity (GEIN), is a capacity building project in the field of sport. It supports sport actors in Albania and Kosovo by developing a learning program and mentorship on topics of gender equality and leadership skills. Piloting of the learning course supports and empowers the grassroots level female sport participation and leadership in sports field that is strongly dominated by men. GEIN unites all genders to work for the project objectives of GEIN in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5. The overall objective of GEIN is to promote common values, non-discrimination, and gender equality through sports. The specific objectives of GEIN are: 1) to promote awareness and activities of gender equality among all genders, 2) to create knowledge and to build capacities on gender equality and leadership skills in sport societies, 3) to build up a network of mentors for bridging the gender gap in sports. GEIN organizes workshops and mentoring for female sport leaders and coaches on both national and international levels, including para-sports. Various institutions will work together for gender equal sports and bridging the gender gap especially in Albania and Kosovo. Transnational cooperation invites also male influencers in sports to work towards the goals of GEIN. The outputs of GEIN include: 1) Recommendations and next steps for sport actors in the work of bridging the gender gap, especially in Albania and Kosovo. 2) Learning course for women in sport sector, sport federations, grassroots sport clubs, para-sport and educational institutions. 3) A compendium of participants’ personal tasks from the mentoring process. 4) Network of mentors bridging the gender gap and guidelines for their work. 5) Three transnational research reports/articles. Partners and stakeholders from all four countries benefit from the GEIN project of 200-300 direct direct beneficiaries and 4000 indirect beneficiaries.
