BIG - BASKETBALL INCLUDING GAMES
▶Summary
The "Basketball Inclusive Games" project is a 12-month, non-profit European sports event addressing limited accessibility and inclusivity in basketball. By fostering a welcoming environment for individuals with disabilities, the project seeks to empower participants and create a lasting positive impact on the European sports community. The proposed solution combines a main event, co-events, and a strategically designed work plan with three interconnected work packages. The main event is the European Wheelchair Basketball Event, promoting accessibility by uniting able-bodied and disabled athletes. This inclusive event is supported by co-events such as referee seminars, coaching seminars, and volunteer training. The work plan consists of three work packages: • Work Package 1 (WP1) - Project Management and Coordination: This package ensures seamless communication and collaboration among stakeholders, managing meetings, monitoring, evaluation, financial management, and progress reporting. • Work Package 2 (WP2) - European Wheelchair Basketball Event: WP2 covers the core Basketball Inclusive Games activities, including seminars, volunteer training, and the main event execution. • Work Package 3 (WP3) - Dissemination and Sustainability: WP3 focuses on project assessment, sharing results, and fostering long-term sustainability of outcomes, extending the impact beyond the event. The project's desired impact is threefold. Firstly, it aims to promote inclusivity in basketball and break down barriers for individuals with disabilities. Secondly, it seeks to empower participants by providing opportunities for skill development, networking, and personal growth. Thirdly, the project aims to create a lasting legacy by fostering long-term accessibility and inclusivity within the European sports community. By achieving these ambitious goals, the "Basketball Inclusive Games" project will contribute to a more inclusive and accessible sports environment for all.
