Summary

The aim of the project is to address social inclusion and give disadvantaged young people the opportunity to participate in a premium sport camp during the summer vacation. The holiday period is the perfect timing to encourage the youth to discover physical activities for life. The consortium is composed of the coordinator Sport Values (SV) in Belgium and the local Sport Club “Basico Santander Hockey Plus” in Spain. Both organising grassroots sports for the youth and for people with disability and are newcomers to the EU programme. The plan is to start a European cooperation and turn the existing camps into a European Sport Value Camp with Social Inclusion. The project will be unique in overcoming the barriers which exclude young people with less opportunities and disability. The project has defined a clear plan and preparation tasks prior to the actual camps. Firstly, a Charter of the “European Sport Value Camp” will be created. The Value Camp as such has already a mission statement, but it needs to be extended to the social inclusion aspects. In the same time the disadvantaged youngsters and people with disability will be selected. The target is to invite and include 40 youngster of these group into the camps. The two European Sport Value Camp with Social Inclusion are planned for July 2024 in Santander (Spain) and the second one in in Brussels (Belgium). The training preparation will be supported by digital tutorials that will show physical activities of multi-sports and trigger motivation and interest of the kids to participate in the summer vacations in the value camp of their choice. The results will be shared openly with the aim to cooperate with more organisations which are sharing the same passion. The concept can be easily replicated and become an enabler to stimulate more social inclusion activities in the field of sport. The long term plan expects 400 disadvantaged youngsters to participate in ten summer Sport Value Camps.
