Summary

ASSIST addresses the objective of “promoting equality and European values in and through sport” by adopting the use of traditional games in training tactics for an easier and more enjoyable engagement of children with the sport of basketball. Problem statement: Children do not participate in organized sports due to many difficulties, social, economic, personal insecurities. Basketball is a team sport with little possession of the ball, which hinders individuality and promotes teamwork and can create a feeling of inclusion in society, no matter what age, sexual orientation, gender expression, whether you are able-bodied or disabled, religion, ethnicity, or socio-economic status you are or hold. Traditional games are played by all children, they have known rules and their integration into basketball training tactics offers them a familiar environment to encourage their participation and continued engagement with basketball, thus contributing to their interaction with other children and to their social inclusion. The ASSIST specific objectives are: Youth Basketball clubs training programs mapping and development, incorporating traditional games rules This objective will focus on analysing the existing youth basketball clubs training programs in the partner countries (and beyond), Delivering the "ASSIST" intervention package The ASSIST interventions will consist of actions related with training for children, information provision to parents and promotional events. The training will be implemented in the 4 participating countries to kids and adolescents up of age of 18. To disseminate information and engage users and stakeholders. This objective will focus on achieving a wide dissemination of the project’s results. Social media will be extensively used along with information provision on events, workshops, meetings where the partners will participate.
