According to the latest Eurostat 2018 report, there are more than 73M people with disabilities in the EU, equivalent to approximately 17.5% of the total population. This number is expected to increase rapidly over the next decade as the EU population is aging and more than a third of people aged over 75 have a disability. Within the scope of combating discrimination and exclusion of citizens with disabilities, and promoting social inclusion policies, the European Commission has supported programs to defend the rights and opportunities of these citizens, through reference measures and instruments. But despite the contemporary development of today's society, and the influence of universal inclusion policies, there continues to be a lack of articulation between areas and agent’s transversal to the problem of disability, reducing the offer of opportunities to these citizens. “ReStart - Aquatic Sport for community live Restart” main goal is to contribute specifically to the inclusion of Citizens with Disabilities in the community, in an innovative approach through outdoor sports, enhancing the sports practiced in nature and, specifically, in the aquatic environment, rich in nature. sensory stimulation and psychosocial cooperation.
