Investigation model - Model for legal investigation on
โถSummary
The fight against match-fixing has been identified as one of the main and most challenging themes in sports. The increasing incidence of match-fixing has negatively impacted the image of the sport in the community, diminishing its prestige and undermining trust in fair play. Although sports federations carry out preventive programs aimed at players of different age groups, this does not always deter them from participating in agreed competitions. One of the biggest issues is that, in many cases, players involved in agreed play do not face any real consequences, and recorded cases of agreed play are not fully investigated due to a lack of a model or scheme for conducting and developing investigations. The project, "Model for legal investigation on match-fixing cases in Basketball," aims to foster international cooperation among five sports and law enforcement organizations involved in combating match-fixing. It will develop an innovative legal investigation model or scheme (added legal regulations and other documents indicating how to carry out the investigation) based on collected materials, analyses, and shared practices for the basketball federations' integrity officers. This will enable them to start a legal investigation when a match-fixing case is reported. The project has two main objectives: 1) creating a legal model for investigating match-fixing cases based on collected materials, analyses, and shared practices, 2) disseminating this model among National basketball federations with the help of FIBA. The project will be implemented together with: Gaming Control Authority (Lithuania), Spanish Basketball federation (Spain), International Basketball Federation, FIBA (Germany), Latvian Basketball Association (Latvia). Coordinator: Lithuanian Basketball federation (Lithuania). that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
