Summary

The project goal is to contribute to a generation of universities and students who can use “design thinking” to overcome challenges and create an overview of exciting new concepts and designs for future sports centers in Europe. Specific Objectives 1.Facilitate cooperation and knowledge exchange between six partners in their respective fields, related to design and development of sport facilities. 2.Encourage more citizens of all ages to participate in sport and health-enhancing physical activities through inclusive designs for sport facilities. 3.Be sustainable and contribute to the fight against climate change, promotion of environmental and biodiversity protection with state-of-the-art sustainable sports complexes. 4.Contribute to the liveliness and social inclusion of neighborhoods, create civic engagement and participation, and solve some of the ‘wicked’ problems that are often related to sports infrastructure (lack of maintenance, vandalism, feeling of unsafety, etc.) through purposeful design. 5.Contribute to the values in sport such as integrity, sportsmanship, fraternity, and inclusion. 6.Impact the widest audience possible in the EU with the project, sharing sustainable and replicable results. Activities Project Management and Coordination; Develop Program and Digital Platform; Country Case Studies and Design Lab; Impact and Dissemination Persons benefiting from the project Design programs for up to 72 students who will actively participate. Three universities from three different European countries will take part. Expected Results and Outcome Increase knowledge of design thinking and innovative sustainable design of sports facilities. Provide an international exchange between students in Europe. Lead to long term solutions for sports facilities, which promote sports to people from a variety of backgrounds, promote social inclusion, and consider sustainability within their design.
