Summary

Due to the conflict-ridden history, the Western Balkans Region (WBR) is facing challenges in terms of ethnic segregation, nationalism, discrimination of disadvantaged groups. Sport is a sector of civil society progress can be seen towards multi-ethnic, overcoming nationalist divides and build local ownership. The project “Sport Zajedno-Promoting social inclusion and reconciliation through grassroots youth sport” promotes social inclusion and post-conflict reconciliation among young people in and through grassroots sport across the WBR. Methods to achieve this objective include training, education, awareness-raising, capacity-building of local grassroots sport stakeholders and youth sport interventions. Activities: WP 1: Management and Coordination Activities WP 2: Developing Criteria for Inclusive Sport Events and Training of Multipliers Come Together Workshop, European Training of Multipliers, Online Mentoring Sessions WP 3: Implementation of Inclusive Grassroots Sport Activities Girls Football Festival, 3x3 Basketball Cup WP 4: Awareness-Raising & Building Local Partnerships Local Inclusive Sport Events, Mini-Van Tour during European Week of Sport 2025 WP 5: Impact and Dissemination Online Toolbox, Final Seminar Type & number of beneficiaries: 20 sport coaches/multipliers trained. 100 girls are educated at football festival, 3x3 tournament with 80 participants, public local sport events with 2000+ participants in 6 countries, educational roadshow in 5 countries.
