โ–ถSummary

Sports can play an important role in the recovery of Victims of Trafficking (VoTs) by providing physical and mental health benefits, as well as offering opportunities for social connection and empowerment: -Physical health benefits: engaging in sports can help VoTs improve their physical health, which may have been neglected or compromised during their trafficking experience. Physical activity can boost the immune system, increase cardiovascular fitness, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. -Mental health benefits: sports can also provide significant mental health benefits, including reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Sports can provide a sense of accomplishment, reduce stress, and improve mood. -Social connection: VoTs may have experienced isolation and a loss of social connections. Participating in sports can help them build relationships and create a sense of community with other athletes. -Empowerment: sports can provide VoTs with a sense of control over their bodies and lives, which can be empowering. Through sports, VoTs can build confidence, develop new skills, and set and achieve goals. It is important to note, however, that the use of sports as a therapeutic tool for VoTs should be part of a comprehensive recovery program that addresses their unique needs and circumstances. Taking this into account, the RECOVER project will: 1. contribute VoTsโ€™ recovery through sports; 2. build the capacities of sport trainers and coaches in order to design and deliver sport activities tailored to the needs of VoTs; 3. enhance sports coaches, trainers and professionals providing assistance and services to VoTs access to guides and toolkits; 4. encourage collaboration and networking among professionals from related fields; 5. raise public awareness and further promote inclusion of physical activity in the VoTs' recovery responses. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
