FuteBola from Portugal in cooperation with Club for Youth Empowerment 018 (KOM018) from Serbia, Beyond Borders from Italy and Barcel’hona Sport Events from Spain would like to apply for small-scale partnership project in the field of sport, “Mental Health Matters” in order to promote importance of mental health of athletes while raising the awareness about mental health issues of men in competitive and professional sports. Project consortium is made from youth and sport organizations in order to combine different approaches and expertise so that more attention and visibility is given to the topic of men’s mental health and more specifically of male athletes. Some data shows that up to 68% of elite athletes experience depressive symptoms, and there may be a higher prevalence in individual sports compared to team sports. Female athletes are more likely to report depressive symptoms than their male counterparts. And these are the main points this project proposal wants to address. Main aim: To raise the awareness about mental health of men in competitive sports Specific objectives: • To develop new methodology for sport workers for promoting mental health and wellbeing of young men and boys – through the research and focus groups new methodologies will be developed in the form of the training guidelines. • To create more opportunities for public dialogue on the topic of mental health of men in competitive sports – through focus groups, international training for male athletes and organization of Mental Health Matters campaign • To raise the awareness about importance of protection of mental health among male athletes – through organization of Mental Health Matters campaign Project will be implemented in the period of 12 months in Italy, Portugal, Serbia and Spain. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
