MAGIC - Mixed Ability Games, Inclusion and
▶Summary
Mixed Ability Games, Inclusion and Co-Production (MAGIC 2025) is a European-wide event that will take place in Pamplona/Iruña (Spain) between the 22nd and the 27th of June 2025. The event aims to feature several international Mixed Ability sports events and exhibition activities, an international conference, as well as a series of co-produced, interactive, and participatory workshops, seminars, and clinics led by participants who have lived experience of disability and other barriers to participation (experts by experience). MAGIC 2025 will adopt an innovative and proven model of inclusion through sport, the Mixed Ability model. Mixed Ability was born from the direct lived experience of disabled participants excluded and discriminated from sport and society when they were told that they could not join regular, mainstream rugby activities due to the risk of sustaining injuries. From the challenge to this patronising, discriminatory yet widespread attitude, a new concept was created. To date, MA sport is the only proposition worldwide where people with and without disability or other barriers to participation in sports are equal members of community clubs and play the same mainstream sports activities, without being separated, classified, or identified. This proposal maximises, amplifies, and multiplies the impact and reach of the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament 2025 (IMART 2025) – the world cup for Mixed Ability rugby clubs – expanding its scope and adding co-produced, educational peer-learning and knowledge-sharing activities, with the aim to create more resilient inclusive networks in inclusive sports, create opportunities for promoting healthy lifestyles and contributing evidence to national and European policies in the fields of sport, disability health, and social inclusion. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
