QIS - All in - Quality Inclusiveness in Sport – innovative
▶Summary
The concept of universal accessibility is a fundamental aspect of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It requires countries to identify and eliminate obstacles and barriers and ensure that persons with disabilities can access their environment, transportation, public facilities, services and information. Facilities assuring accessibility constitute a basic condition to developing sporting opportunities for all, from the youngest beginner to the high-performance athlete. Buildings and facilities, whether large or small, encourage civic inclusion while contributing to the process of revitalising deprived neighbourhoods (urban regeneration). An adequate and user-friendly design for accessibility and mobility requires a comprehensive understanding of these issues and the identification of effective solutions, best practices and innovative developments in the sport and leisure industry. Meeting the needs of the widest range of people in the design, operation and maintenance of sports facilities is the challenge that the Quality Inclusiveness in Sport (QIS – All In) addresses. The Proposal intends to develop an Inclusiveness Quality certification process, with the aim to establish quality standards to systematically evaluate and improve sports facilities accessibility, considering the needs of people with disabilities – people with sensory, cognitive and mobility mobility impairments or any other type of disability. Such process will also provide sport organisations and (private and public) entities managing sport facilities with concrete guidance to identify concrete measures to implement the necessary improvements. The Inclusiveness Quality certification process is particularly directed to raising awareness, offer Training & Education tools and advocate the inclusion of people with disabilities through sports by showcasing and disseminating the best adapted solutions (practices) in public, grassroots or high performance’ sports facilities. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
