SIVO - Sitting Volleyball- for inclusion and well-being
โถSummary
There are 87 million citizens with disabilities in Europe, about half of whom have a physical disability. While in some cases, these are severe cases of disabilities that debilitate the individual, in other cases, it remains possible for individuals to practise sport. In this circumstance, sport becomes a strategic tool for implementing the physical and psychological well-being and mood of individuals. The benefits that sports could bring are fostered significantly in the case of projects promoting inclusive sports that allow equal competition between persons with and without disabilities. One such sport is Sitting Volleyball. The primary objective of the project SIVO is to promote the sport, and in particular the discipline of sitting volleyball, as a tool to make a significant difference in the lives of people with disabilities, ensuring that every European citizen has an equal opportunity to enjoy the benefits, including social benefits, that sport can bring. The project will bring concrete benefits, first of all, in the partner countries, but then it will provide a methodology and tools that will be disseminated among all EU countries. Collaboration will be fostered both between the partner countries and with the other members of the European Union, but the project aims to achieve even wider expansion. SIVO OBJECTIVES ARE: Specific objective 1: (O1): to foster the capability of sports organisations, trainers, and coaches to deliver sports activities tailored for people with disabilities Specific Objective 2: (O2) to foster the active participation of individuals with physical and motor disabilities in sports activities and events. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
