Summary

The main aim of the Judo Kata Alliance project is to present kata as the best way to practise judo for personal development and general health through establishing permanent collaboration between organisational structures and individuals, and build a common sports culture in the region. In this respect the project addresses the horizontal priority of Encouraging healthy lifestyle for all, and the sub-priority The promotion of sport and physical activity as a tool for health. The project addresses five specific objectives: 1) to establish a partnership between four judo federations in the region with the aim of exchanging competences and good practices, as well as building new know-how in the field of judo kata 2) to build institutional capacities of project partners, including the establishment of permanent collaboration and building of common sports culture in the region 3) to expand the knowledge and familiarity of kata practice as well as develop new practices, 4) to promote kata, both competitive and "non" kodokan (non-competitive) kata, and 5) to encourage cross-border knowledge exchange between relevant target groups and stakeholders (athletes, coaches and members of federations). The project brings together eight partners from four different countries: Slovenia, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The partners will organise two international capacity building events, two expert workshops, and create video presentations of selected topics of judo kata and final project publication (a collection of articles related to kata based on events). In today’s judo practice, kata is vastly underrated, and the all-round positive effects of kata practice is neglected. With this project, the target groups will benefit: 1) judo coaches will gain competencies for teaching kata, 2) competitors will increase the level of their experience, 3) judo trainees will increase their health and build social ties, 4) individuals with disabilities will gain an inclusive environm that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
