Sport and STEM Fest - [Sports and Science
โถSummary
Background: Recent PISA 2022 assessments and WHO (2022) reports highlight a decline in math, science scores and participation in physical activity among adolescents. To combat these challenges, we're launching "Sports & STEM Fest" a unique initiative blending sports and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education. Our Aim: To increase participation in sports and physical activities, enhance STEM education, and promote a healthy, sustainable lifestyle among adolescents aged 13-17. We're focusing on inclusivity, prioritising girls and those from low socio-economic backgrounds. We will organise first European Sports & STEM festivals which will last 2 days, simultaneously in 4 program countries. During festival dozens of stands will be exhibit mainly by each hosting organisation. Although there will be minor changes in each partner festival, the overall structure, stands and organization of the festival will remain largely the same. Each stand will address a specific sports branch. Alongside this, there will be several stands such as registration, help, first aid, sustainability, and digital technologies that enhance physical activity, and social media literacy regarding health, diet and sports. For example, a cycling stand presents its dual nature as both an engineering product and a vehicle for a sporting competition. Our Consortium: Consists of 4 diverse organizations across program countries, each bringing unique expertise to the table. Project Duration is 18 months of collaborative work, culminating in the grand European Sport and STEM Festival. The project consortium consists of 4 organisations from Turkiye (BPDYS, COO), Spain (University of Sevilla), Slovenia, (GIB Sport), Croatia (RSSA) Main project activities - Project management - Two Desk Research (Pre and Post Festival) - Guideline Development - Local workshops (50 participants) - 4 Sport & STEM Festival (200 people per country) - Conference (150 participants) - Dissemination/sustainability that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
