Summary

As in all areas of social life, women's participation in sports management and decision-making processes is one of the most important elements of democracy. In the study titled “Women, gender equality and sport” by the United Nations; women's participation in leadership and decision-making processes is limited in sport and sport-related organizations, and women's decision-making at all levels, including coaching, management, commercial sporting activities and the media, as well as at local, national, regional and international levels, including the International Olympic Committee. Even though the number of women representıng sports and physical activity at managerıal level has increased in the recent years, in comparison to men in sports management and decision-making processes it is stıll not equal. This and the beneficial conclusions and results of the first EqualiSM initiative, was the basis that led to the next step and the project EqualiSM Echo. From this point of view, the maın aim of the EqualiSM Echo project is to further promote increase of women representatives in sport management and decision-making mechanism and to raise awareness in relevant organizations (sport clubs, sport federation, sports academies, decision-makers in sport). In order to create this awareness and support the equal representation of women in sports management and decision-making processes, the following activities will be carried out in the project: - Research on the changes in the last 2 years after the first EqualiSM project to make impact at national and EU levels and Female Role Models – Leadership and Inclusion Training - Mentorship Programs - Networking Workshops – Dissemination Campaign to ensure high visibility of the project results. Additionally, the project supports 3 of the 17 United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals: Gender Equality, Reduced Inequality and Partnerships for the Goals. The main priority of the project is Inclusion and diversity. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
