Summary

The ReGym project is a pioneering initiative that promotes sustainability, inclusion, and accessibility in gymnastics by repurposing and redistributing high-quality used gymnastics equipment. Led by the Sports for Children Foundation (Netherlands) in collaboration with the Croatian Gymnastics Federation (HGS) and four gymnastics clubs from Croatia—GK Knin, GK Brezovica, GK Salto Vinkovci, and GK Koprivnica—the project seeks to bridge the gap in access to essential gymnastics apparatuses for under-resourced clubs. Many gymnastics clubs across Croatia struggle with outdated or insufficient equipment due to the high costs of new apparatuses. This shortage limits training opportunities and affects the overall development of young gymnasts. ReGym addresses this challenge by implementing an innovative and sustainable model in which used gymnastics equipment from the Netherlands is collected, refurbished, and redistributed to clubs in need. The project promotes a circular economy approach in sports, extending the lifespan of equipment that would otherwise be discarded, reducing waste, and making gymnastics more accessible to children from diverse backgrounds. The project will be implemented over 12 months with a budget of €60,000, supporting the collection, refurbishment, and transportation of equipment to Croatia. Over 2,000 children will gain access to safe and high-quality gymnastics apparatuses, significantly improving training conditions. By aligning with Erasmus+ priorities, ReGym supports inclusion, sustainability, and cross-border collaboration, ensuring that gymnastics remains an accessible, environmentally responsible, and community-driven sport. Through innovative resource redistribution, the project not only enhances training opportunities for young athletes but also sets a precedent for sustainable sports infrastructure across Europe. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
