GreenFit - Outdoor Sports for Inclusion and Green
▶Summary
The GreenFit project aims to promote inclusive outdoor sports and nature-based activities for intellectually disabled and disadvantaged youth aged 13 to 24. Recognizing the lack of accessible sports opportunities, GreenFit seeks to bridge this gap by equipping educators, trainers, and volunteers with a comprehensive inclusive sport programme, digital toolkit and best practices to foster inclusivity in NGOs, sports clubs, and community settings. The project is built upon three key pillars: (1) addressing resource limitations by providing free, scalable tools; (2) strengthening teachers, trainers and volunteers through training programs; and (3) promoting cross-sectoral and transnational collaboration among partners from Türkiye, Portugal, and Slovenia. These partners bring expertise in inclusive education, inclusive and adaptable sports, and socio-cultural development, creating a synergy that ensures impactful implementation. Activities include a series of online and face-to-face workshops to train teachers, trainers and volunteers in inclusive outdoor sports methodologies, best practices already implemented other countries. Inclusive sport events will give opportunity to the target groups to experience different outdoor sports with their peers. Through these efforts, GreenFit directly supports the Erasmus+ priority of "Inclusion and Diversity" while also incorporating environmentally sustainable practices by emphasizing outdoor activities and minimizing the project's carbon footprint. GreenFit contributes the physical and mental well-being of youth with disabilities and disadvantaged background by facilitating access to inclusive sports and promoting social integration. The project not only empowers educators but also promotes active European citizenship and cross-border cooperation, ensuring long-term sustainability and positive impact. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
