โ–ถSummary

THEATLON is an innovative project that combines martial arts, theatre, and Japanese philosophy to make physical education (PE) more inclusive. It engages students with disabilities alongside their peers, promoting equity, collaboration, and well-being. The project provides teachers with practical tools to create inclusive PE activities, fostering a sense of belonging and intercultural dialogue. The THEATLON project bridges the gap between policy and practice in inclusive education, transforming physical education into a platform for creativity, collaboration, and inclusivity. By addressing the needs of students with disabilities and fostering a sense of community within schools, THEATLON contributes to broader European goals of equity, social cohesion, and lifelong learning. The THEATLON project aligns with Erasmus+ priorities on inclusion and diversity by addressing barriers faced by students with disabilities in physical education (PE). It introduces a methodology combining physical activity, creativity, and intercultural dialogue to promote equity, participation, and social cohesion. THEATLON also builds educators' capacity by providing tools for inclusive PE, supporting the EU Strategy on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021โ€“2030. Additionally, it aligns with the Council Recommendation on Health-Enhancing Physical Activity (HEPA) and EU Physical Activity Guidelines, reinforcing the role of inclusive PE in improving health, life skills, and social connections. The THEATLON project will produce three key outputs: Inclusive Methodology Handbook; Training Program for Teachers; Resource Kits for Students and Teachers to ensure practical implementation, capacity building, and engagement in inclusive PE. The project aims to reach over 500 stakeholders, with at least 10 schools committing to its methodology after the project's conclusion for a long term impact. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
