GreenCLIMB - Empowering Women and Promoting
▶Summary
The GreenCLIMB project is dedicated to fostering a culture of ecological responsibility within the climbing community while addressing the underrepresentation of women in the sport. By empowering female climbers and instructors, this project aims to promote sustainable climbing practices that minimize environmental impacts such as erosion, waste accumulation, and wildlife disturbance. Key objectives of GreenCLIMB include educating female climbers on the environmental consequences of climbing, equipping them to act as ambassadors for eco-friendly outdoor practices, and creating comprehensive guidelines—A Guide to Eco-Friendly Practices—to support sustainable climbing habits. Additionally, the project seeks to increase women’s participation in climbing through targeted workshops, events, and training programs. Over the course of the initiative, 45 women will undergo international training, and 90 women will be trained at the local level. Climbing offers profound physical and mental benefits, from building strength, coordination, and confidence to alleviating anxiety and depression through focus and self-esteem. It fosters social connection, encouraging climbers—especially women—to support and motivate one another. By combining these benefits with a strong emphasis on sustainability, GreenCLIMB prioritizes both individual well-being and collective ecological responsibility, ensuring the sport can thrive in harmony with nature for generations to come. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
