SDM - Sport Develops the Mind
▶Summary
The "Sport Develops the Mind" (SDM) project is an Erasmus+ initiative coordinated by Fundacja Antares in collaboration with OTI Slovakia and Euroteam Czech Republic. It aims to promote physical activity, intercultural dialogue, and scientific education among young people aged 18-25, particularly those from rural areas with fewer opportunities. The project’s core activity is an international hiking camp in the Polish-Czech-Slovak border region, combining sports, astronomy, and environmental education. Participants will engage in hiking, orienteering, rock climbing, and team-building exercises, while also taking part in astronomical observations, astrophotography, and measuring light pollution. Environmental activities include mapping endangered plant species and fostering eco-friendly behaviours. Through intercultural learning, participants will explore traditional games, collaborate in mixed teams, and engage in national evenings to deepen their understanding of cultural diversity. The project’s objectives focus on increasing access to international mobility and education through sports, challenging stereotypes by merging science with physical activity, strengthening cross-border collaboration between partner organizations, and fostering cultural awareness alongside environmental responsibility. By integrating non-formal learning methods, SDM aims to inspire young people to adopt a healthier lifestyle, develop scientific literacy, and engage in outdoor activities. The project also includes an extensive dissemination plan, leveraging social media campaigns, open-access educational materials, and a dedicated hiking and astronomy guide for educators. Its long-term sustainability is ensured through the integration of project methodologies into the partners’ regular activities, encouraging follow-up initiatives and continuous collaboration. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
