STRONG - Supporting the Implementation of Athletes'
▶Summary
STRONG’s general objective is to enhance good governance across European National Olympic Committees (NOCs) by developing knowledge and frameworks that support the implementation, protection and promotion of athletes’ rights and responsibilities.Coordinated by the EOC EU Office, STRONG is implemented with the support of Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz and 15 European NOCs involved as partners. STRONG aims to fulfil its general objective by gathering and assessing knowledge related to athletes' rights and responsibilities by compiling a Pool of Actions on selected thematic areas, followed by an assessment to determine the current state of the athletes’ rights and responsibilities in participating NOCs through the Status Quo Report, whilst the knowledge and awareness of European athletes on their rights and responsibilities will be presented in the Stakeholder Perceptions Report. The STRONG consortium will develop a European Framework for Athletes' Rights as a standard for athletes’ rights and responsibilities in European organised sport, through a consultative approach. In parallel, efforts will be made to develop and implement an Educational Course to enhance NOC administrators’ understanding of athletes’ rights and responsibilities. Moving towards practical implementation, the partner NOCs will formulate, implement and adopt organisational strategies in line with the European Framework for Athletes' Rights and Responsibilities tailored to their needs. A Mentoring Programme will also be launched to raise awareness and knowledge and empower athletes. To ensure ongoing collaboration and exchange, it will further establish a network of stakeholders to facilitate continuous knowledge-sharing. Thus, STRONG project is expected to profoundly boost athletes’ rights and responsibilities in European organised sport. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
