Criclusion4Equality - Criclusion 4 Equality: Breaking
▶Summary
Cricket is an underutilized tool for promoting gender equality and increasing sports participation among women and girls in Europe. Criclusion 4 Equality seeks to expand access to cricket for girls and women while also engaging boys from disadvantaged backgrounds in Serbia and Ireland. The project builds on previous initiatives, Criclusion and Family Cricket, while shifting the focus toward breaking gender barriers in sports and embedding gender-sensitive practices in grassroots cricket Activities will take place in Serbia(Obrenovac, Krnjača, Padinska Skela) and Ireland(Limerick, Galway), targeting communities where structured sports opportunities are limited. The primary focus is on girls and women, without excluding males, particularly from Roma and low-income communities in Serbia and migrant and low-income communities in Ireland. The project will include regular cricket sessions, educational workshops, and community festivals, designed to increase participation and create long-term engagement in the sport. A core component of the project is the development of gender-specific guidelines for athletes, coaches, referees, and sports professionals, addressing gender-related issues in cricket. These guidelines will help make coaching and competitions more inclusive and accessible to female participants while ensuring that mixed-gender activities are conducted in a way that supports equal opportunities The project will combine cricket training and non-competitive activities with capacity-building efforts, ensuring that gender-sensitive coaching approaches become embedded in sport structures. Through structured activities, community events, and digital engagement, TheProject aligns with Erasmus+ priorities by promoting gender equality, fostering diversity, and expanding access to sports. The project’s long-term goal is to empower women and girls through cricket, improve representation in the sport, and create a model that can be adapted and replicated in other countries that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
