Summary

The PET-Kayak Ecoventure: Paddling for a Sustainable Future is a groundbreaking project aiming to intertwine environmental sustainability with sports and community involvement. The main objectives include promoting the use of recycled materials in sports equipment, specifically kayaks made from PET bottles, enhancing public awareness and engagement in environmental conservation, and fostering inclusivity in outdoor activities. The project targets communities associated with Caritas and individuals from less privileged backgrounds, ensuring accessibility and enjoyment of kayaking and canoeing for a broader demographic. To achieve these goals, the project will conduct workshops for building kayaks out of recycled PET bottles, organize educational and training sessions on sustainable kayaking and canoeing practices, and implement inclusive activities for underprivileged youth. Additionally, the project plans to run an information campaign on social media to raise awareness about the environmental impact of outdoor sports and promote sustainable practices. This initiative is highly relevant to the European Union's work programme, aligning with its objectives of promoting environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and active lifestyles. By integrating eco-friendly practices in sports and ensuring participation across diverse community segments, the project contributes to the broader EU goals of environmental conservation, health and wellness, and social cohesion. Furthermore, its innovative approach in using recycled materials sets a precedent for sustainable practices in sports and community engagement. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
