STEP: Supporting Talent Excellence Partnerships
▶Summary
STEP: Supporting Talent Excellence Partnerships through Orienteering STEP symbolises the progressive journey of young athletes in orienteering and highlights the support, talent development and partnerships that help them excel in international competitions. It also reflects the idea of taking steps towards improvement and success in the sport. In line with the sports policy of the European Union, STEP Project will foster cooperation and support initiatives for physical and sports activities across different European countries mainly focusing on foot orienteering. STEP aims to develop partnerships between young athletes from three European countries and give them the opportunity to develop their performances to international standards. Orienteering is a green and sustainable endurance sport which equally challenges the body and mind. Each terrain and course in each country means a new challenge for the competitors. The Cooperation Partnership allows the consortia to increase the quality and relevance of their activities, develop and strengthen networks to enhance their abilities to act together on a transnational level. The Veszprémi Honvéd Orienteering Sport Club from Hungary as the lead partner, together with the Finnish orienteering club Espoon Suunta and the Liberec regional union of the Czech Orienteering Federation, aims to support the preparation of Hungarian, Finnish and Czech athletes for international orienteering events. The Veszprémi Honvéd Sport Club has been granted the right to organise the World Orienteering Championships in 2027 in Veszprém, Hungary, which is the most prestigious event in orienteering. The project sets a path in the athletes' preparation time of participating in specific competitions, sharing experiences and knowledge at European standards. STEP aims to establish sister orienteering clubs between the partner organisations to promote economic, social and cultural development towards healthier and more active sports communities. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
