Summary

JUDO-LEAP (Joint Understanding, Development and Outreach in the Local Empowerment and Advancement Project) is a joint initiative that promotes European values through judo. The project is aimed at young judokas aged 12 to 18, who are at a crucial stage in their personal, educational and sporting development. By engaging them in interactive activities, discussions and real-life challenges, we aim to strengthen their understanding of values such as respect, fairness, perseverance and inclusion, which are essential for them, for judo and for the European Union. The project brings together three organisations from two countries: Judo Club Sankaku Ljubljana (Slovenia), Judo Club Z’dežele Sankaku Celje (Slovenia) and Judo Federation Mehedinti County (Romania). All three partners base their mission and vision on their values. The main project activities of JUDO-LEAP include: (1) three interactive workshops in Slovenia and Romania, focusing on connecting the principles of judo with European values through mentoring, practical exercises and discussions; (2) development of engaging learning materials; (3) creation of an e-book capturing insights, reflections and experiences of young athletes and mentors; and (4) a digital campaign #JudoValuesEU, raising awareness of European values through social media and community engagement. The expected impact relates to: (1) more than 150 young judokas directly involved in the activities; (2) increased awareness and understanding of European values among young athletes; (3) a lasting learning resource (e-book) that can be used even after the project has ended; and (4) wider outreach through a digital campaign, attracting a wider audience and ensuring the sustainability of the project message. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
