Summary

The Home & Heart: European Family Festival is a transformative initiative that brings together families from across Europe, creating a powerful, dynamic and unique space where people of all generations can connect through sports, culture and shared experiences. This event is not just a festival – it is a movement towards greater social inclusion, stronger family ties and a more cohesive European identity. By combining physical activity, educational workshops and cultural exchange, the festival will unite both local families and those from socially at-risk groups, including refugees and low-income households, ensuring that everyone has equal opportunities to participate, learn and thrive. The festival’s vision is to serve as a landmark event in Europe, fostering collaboration between generations and strengthening the fabric of our diverse communities. The Home & Heart: European Family Festival will bring together 50 socially at-risk international families (200 people), representing 5-6 families from each EU member state and 200 local families (800 people), totaling 1,000 on-site participants. 50% of attendees will come from socially vulnerable backgrounds, including refugees, low-income families and individuals with disabilities. Additionally, an extra 1,000 families will join remotely through an interactive online format, engaging in live-streamed events, workshops and digital learning experiences, ensuring a broad and inclusive reach across Europe. The festival aligns with key European strategies such as the EU Work Plan for Sport (2021-2024), the HealthyLifestyle4All initiative and the EU Physical Activity Guidelines, which all emphasize the importance of grassroots sports in promoting health, well-being and social integration. It also builds upon the priorities of the European Week of Sport, reinforcing the value of active participation, lifelong learning and family-oriented engagement in community life. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
