Summary

The Future Fight: ESG in Karate project is an initiative aimed at integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into karate federations, ensuring sustainable and ethically driven sports governance. The project aligns with the Erasmus+ priorities in sport, specifically addressing Good Governance and European Values, through structured sustainability reporting, inclusion policies, and ethical leadership in sports management. By aligning with the EU Work Plan for Sport (2024–2027) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the project aims to foster transparent and accountable governance within karate organizations. At its core, the project seeks to develop and implement an ESG monitoring framework to help federations assess and improve their sustainability strategies. This will be achieved through a collaborative approach, involving a detailed survey to map current ESG practices, the development of an ESG Karate Handbook, and national and international events to validate and promote the framework. Federations, clubs, and policymakers will engage in internal training sessions, an International Workshop, and an Online Stakeholder Meeting, enhancing their understanding of sustainability in sports. The project will directly train at least 300 individuals and distribute educational materials to at least 70 organisation federations, clubs, other system actors ensuring that ESG-driven governance becomes a standard practice. Scalability and transferability are central to the project’s vision., therefore endorsement of the ESG framework beyond project partners will be sought. To maximize visibility, the project will implement a comprehensive dissemination strategy, leveraging social media, websites, media articles, and direct engagement with sports organizations and policymakers. The project aims to achieve 10,000 unique views on its publications, ensuring that ESG principles gain traction across the European sports community. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
