โ–ถSummary

The PLAY project integrates multilingual learning with physical activity to enhance early childhood education for children aged 1โ€“6 years. Implemented in Montessori, Waldorf, and public kindergarten settings across Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Cyprus, the project develops and pilots a structured educational programme that uses sports-based language learning activities to improve cognitive, linguistic, and motor skills. The initiative is based on scientific research, which confirms that movement-based learning enhances vocabulary retention, pronunciation, and comprehension while fostering social inclusion and cognitive development. The project includes: Development of a multilingual sports-based curriculum, combining physical activities with language learning. Train-the-trainer workshops for kindergarten teachers, ensuring the methodology is effectively implemented. Afternoon programmes that involve parents, strengthening home-kindergarten collaboration. A digital learning platform (PLAY Interactive Online Multiverse) providing open-access teaching materials and interactive activities. Community-based activities, such as family sports weekends and Green Excursions, to promote healthy lifestyles and environmental awareness. By embedding structured movement-based learning into early education, the PLAY project fosters multilingualism, physical literacy, and cultural awareness. The project aims for long-term impact, ensuring sustainability through teacher training, open-access resources, and policy recommendations, making sports-based language learning a scalable best practice in early childhood education across Europe. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
