SIE - Sport for Inclusion and Empowerment
▶Summary
Sport has the power to unite, inspire, and transform lives. Yet, for many marginalized youth across Europe and beyond, it remains an unattainable dream. The Sport for Inclusion and Empowerment (SIE) project was born from the belief that every young person—regardless of their background, abilities, or socio-economic status—deserves the right to play, grow, and thrive through sport. Too many young people face barriers that keep them on the sidelines: financial constraints, lack of accessible facilities, or social exclusion. These barriers don’t just deprive them of physical activity—they take away their chance to belong, to develop confidence, and to shape a better future. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, and Spain, 42% of disadvantaged youth express a strong desire to participate in sports, yet 68% have never had the opportunity to engage in an organized sports program. This statistic is more than a number—it is a reflection of lost potential, of dreams put on hold. The SIE project stands as a direct response to this inequality, offering real, sustainable solutions by developing inclusive sports opportunities, educational resources, and digital engagement tools. We want to build a movement of change—a movement of inclusion, and we belive we can make it happen with this project. A movement that empowers youth by giving them a platform to lead, to learn, and to inspire. A movement that trains coaches, youth workers, and sports professionals to create safe, inclusive environments where every young person feels welcome. A movement that will organize local, national, and international sports events, where diversity is celebrated and inclusion is the norm, not the exception. We can't promise that we will make global change, but with this project, we would like to try that no young person will be left behind in accessing the transformative power of sport. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
