The Research Excellence And Career Hub at University of Pau et Pays de l’Adour (REACH-UPPA) is an ambitious programme offeringquality training to 10 international and highly skilled postdoctoral researchers (PDRs) within UPPA’s interdisciplinary missions. REACHUPPAwill gather the leading expertise from UPPA’s research management services, UPPA’s research units, and their associatedpartners, for 5 years, in order to support the post-doctoral researchers in the achievement of excellence in research and leadership.UPPA has imagined REACH-UPPA keeping in mind the possibilities and significant impact that the recruitment of these talentedyoung researchers will have in the hosting research units, the University and the territory whilst boosting their own careeradvancement towards excellence.REACH-UPPA is a career development programme through scientific excellence and innovative training, open to top-tier youngresearchers regardless their nationality, designed to provide the PDRs with an advanced profile aiming for Excellence. Theprogramme comprises a tailored training and mentoring programme including acquiring additional skills and qualifications that aimto enable the researchers to excel with independent research.UPPA’s values guiding the research activity are (1) reconciling science and society for a sustainable progress and (2) acting within theterritory. These values are declined into five interdisciplinary missions, designed to transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries,encouraging cross-fertilization and interdisciplinarity between different players and sectors to better grasp the complexity of theirissues.In order to maximise the candidates’ freedom of choice of their research project, REACH-UPPA will focus on the interdisciplinarymissions and give the choice among 15 different research areas (3 per interdisciplinary mission), led by experienced scientific mentorsthat will guide the researchers to the top of their capacities.
