β–ΆSummary

The MSCA COFUND action IGNIDTE will foster a new generation of twelve excellent researchers through training at the interface of clinical medicine and basic science in medical imaging and image guided therapies at the Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI) and the University of Innsbruck (UIBK). Home to one of the largest hospitals in Austria and a world-renowned array of researchers in clinical sciences, biomedical engineering and medical physics, MUI provides a unique breeding ground for multidisciplinary research and training. Closely entangled with MUI and a world-leader in multiple research areas of physics, applied mathematics and engineering, UIBK will complement the biomedical expertise of MUI. With the mission to be next in excellence, IGNIDTE will build upon the doctoral program β€œImage Guided Diagnostics &Therapy” (IGDT) jointly established and partly funded by the national science fund (FWF) from 2020-2025 at MUI and UIBK and expand on it with a focus on Novelty, Internationality, and Excellence.Novelty: By opening new grounds in the training program, enhancing access to complementary expertise in clinical medicine and biomedical technology, educating on aspects beyond the typical research tasks in PhD projects (project management, social skills and innovation). Additionally, the faculty will be enlarged in gender equality, by including young faculty members, new specializations (neuropathology) and scientists with dual education (medicine and physics).Internationality: Beyond the recruitment process and conference visits, each doctoral candidate will be offered secondments at academic and/or non-academic partner institutions in Europe. Excellence: Providing excellent, interdisciplinary supervisory teams comprising medical and basic scientists, excellent management structures for each PhD, ensuring excellent multidisciplinary research environment for the individual PhD research projects and an excellent academic, interdisciplinary training framework.
