Summary

Europe's democratic and cross-national idea is at stake: a revived nationalism from the social centers and extremely successful populisms of right-wing conservative to fascist political orientation are gaining momentum in Europe. The bundle of socio-political phenomena nationalism and right-wing populism is paradoxically also manifested as a European phenomenon by its appearance in numerous European countries. As young media-makers and politically active and Europeans, the two partner organizations "Straßen aus Zucker" from Germany and "Mladez proti krajni pravici" from the Czech Republic are convinced that right-wing populism can only be achieved through a joint, transnational demonstration of political alternatives. That's why we've put together our respective political work for this purpose in a bilingual and bi-national newspaper project. Two jointly produced youth newspapers were supposed to analyze and criticize the emergent right-wing populism both from its specific nation-state contexts and to highlight its general European dimensions. However, this information and sensitization with regard to nationalism and right-wing populism should not remain: With the two papers, we also want to point out areas of action for social and political commitment against the right to young people. Through joint meetings, we have intensified the political exchanges that we have already shared and updated them through joint transnational publication and made them accessible to a much larger number of young people and young people in Europe. So that we do not leave Europe to the nationalist currents and develop a common, a European consciousness!
