Summary

Background The project, "STREAMpreneur", was initiated on the backdrop of the growing recognition of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education across Europe and its prominence as a top EU priority. The European Union, striving for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth, places significant emphasis on nurturing knowledge, innovation capacity, and creative capabilities. As the future increasingly revolves around innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability, the intertwining of STEAM education and entrepreneurship becomes more evident. Key competencies nurtured through STEAM education, such as creativity, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and adaptability, are intrinsic to successful entrepreneurship. This project envisions merging the enhanced educational concept of STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Art, and Math) into innovative entrepreneurship programs, cultivating future entrepreneurs capable of addressing emerging societal challenges and creating new employment opportunities. Integrating STREAM Entrepreneurship education into the youth work sector presents significant potential in improving youth work's relational and process outcomes. To ensure the continued pivotal role of youth work in societal wellbeing and prosperity, youth workers need to be equipped with up-to-date knowledge and tools, enabling them to adapt to the evolving needs of youth and society as a whole. Objectives The project aimed to cultivate entrepreneurial skills among youth, drive innovation, and generate sustainable solutions to real-life challenges through the introduction of "STREAM Entrepreneurship". It sought to enhance the quality of youth work related to entrepreneurial learning by equipping key social actors like youth workers, trainers, and educators with the knowledge, mindset, skills, and tools to integrate "STREAM entrepreneurship" into their everyday activities. This effort was intended to empower youth organisations with competencies to supplement formal education, fostering personal, social, and professional development of young individuals. Another important objective was to bolster the digital skills of youth workers and youth, thereby promoting sustainable entrepreneurship and development. The project targeted to empower youth with 21st-century skills and lifelong learning competencies, inspiring them to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset. The vision was to stimulate sustainable entrepreneurship, inspire innovation, and nurture new start-ups and job opportunities through the transfer of STREAM entrepreneurship knowledge. Ultimately, it was aimed to reduce youth unemployment by encouraging sustainable start-up creation. Implementation The STREAMpreneur consortium effectively implemented a variety of activities, centred around two principal Intellectual Outputs, to accomplish its objectives. The first Intellectual Output, the guidelines on "STREAM Entrepreneurship approach implementation in youth work” was meticulously developed since the onset of the project and facilitated a comprehensive analysis of the status of STEM, STEAM, STREAM and entrepreneurship, sparking significant discourse. The second Intellectual Output was the central focus throughout the project. It was the STREAMpreneur “E-course platform – Empowering Drivers for Future Growth” a resource offering flexible, multilingual learning opportunities, practical courses, and comprehensive support for the implementation of the STREAMpreneur approach in different facets of youth work. The project disseminated and tested the product in partner countries to gather invaluable feedback and refine the methodologies. It also initiated a dynamic community of practitioners, encouraging collaboration and idea exchange. Achievements Throughout the 30-month STREAMpreneur project, the most prominent tangible results were the development of the comprehensive guidelines and the E-course platform. The guidelines served as a critical manual for the "STREAM Entrepreneurship" approach, offering youth workers and organisations a practical reference for integrating this approach into their programs. The guidelines were meticulously designed to promote and foster the entrepreneurial mindset among youth through STREAM entrepreneurship. Equally vital was the creation of the E-course platform. This innovative platform provided youth workers with multilingual online courses to support their efforts in infusing STREAM entrepreneurship into their activities. Beyond offering courses, the platform facilitated a social learning environment where participants could share information, discuss ideas, and collaborate, making it an invaluable resource for STREAM entrepreneurship education. The project had a visible impact on various participants, participating organisations, youth and stakeholders, thus contributing to the dissemination of the STREAMpreneurship approach.
