Fire Cadets Plus

Background Youth Fire Brigades have existed for many years across the world as a way of promoting the social inclusion and active citizenship of young people as well as their personal development. Most people have a very positive perception of fire cadets. Therefore, fire cadets have a big potential to use their position to promote social inclusion. However, as part of the needs assessment for this project, the project partners found an absolute lack of training and tools to inspire and support fire cadets in doing so. Objectives The objective of the Fire Cadets Plus project was to strengthen fire cadets' sense and capacity of social initiative by developing the online platform www.firecadetsplus.eu with online training and support tools that fire cadets can use to plan and implement actions to promote social inclusion. Implementation During the 29-month project, February 2021 to June 2023, the project partners: • met in three countries to plan, coordinate and evaluate the project tasks and activities; • developed the first version of the online platform and tested it with fire cadets from four countries; • improved the online platform based on the feedback from the testers; • published the online platform at www.firecadetsplus.eu Achievements The main project result is the online platform www.firecadetsplus.eu The online platform has the following sections: 1) Get inspired with videos from actions to promote social inclusion implemented by fire cadets from several EU countries. 2) Online course on how fire cadets can make the most of their position to promote social inclusion. 3) Tools to plan and implement actions to promote social inclusion.
