Youth path to gender equality
▶Summary
Background The project responds to the need to address gender inequality and gender violence in the field of youth. Gender inequality is one of the most present and transversal forms of violence throughout the world. The patriarchal system in which we live is so deep that its dynamics of inequality permeate all areas, including social and youth organizations. Adolescence and youth is the moment in which people build our identity and learn from the different models that surround us, being very exposed to hegemonic models of the media, music, series, cinema, advertising, etc. models that continue to show patriarchal gender stereotypes and that lead to gender violence continuing to be perpetuated both through daily violence, as well as more serious violence, sexual violence, physical aggression, murder, etc. The patriarchal model that puts productive work first penetrates the whole of society, including our way of making organizations. To be real examples for the youth with whom we work, it is also necessary to review our own ways of doing things.
