Summary

Background As globally expressed by most climate scientists, reaching the objective of capping the global temperature rise at +2°C is crucial to answering basic human needs and maintaining a form of peace in the future. If we fail, we would witness devastating extreme events and a damaged capacity to provide food and drinkable water. This is why we must act urgently and efficiently. While climate and environmental education in schools and society is gaining momentum, not all young people are equally involved in the topic or aware of the magnitude of the climate problem. Youth with fewer opportunities are often preoccupied with what seem as more pressing matters. Those who do grasp the importance of climate protection often feel disenfranchised about it. The main objectives of the project were to : •Raise awareness of young people about sustainable development and the causes of climate change •Train them in social entrepreneurship as a viable response to climate challenges and spark their interest in the topic through non-formal education •Empower them to activities that will have a positive impact on their communities •Improve future (self-)employment prospects for them with fewer opportunities •Support youth workers with a workshop toolkit Objectives >Pedagogical Framework Needs Analysis of what exists in the literature regarding climate change and business training. Developing the intention to engage in sustainable entrepreneurship Pedagogical approach + toolkit for young people with fewer opportunities, to make it adaptable and reusable also by other audiences. >EcologicalRenaissance Offering a positive story of what communities look like after an implementation of sustainability policies.
