Supporting Youth Transitions in post-Lockdown society through Detached Youth Work

Background The background for the project was the rapidly evolving context for young people as they exited a period of lockdown. Given the profound change that young people were experiencing, the project intended to better understand what was taking place for those most disengaged and socially excluded by addressing the following support questions/needs 1. What are the emerging needs of young people experience social exclusion and the interventions to effectively connect to them 2. What policy and service changes are required to support the emerging needs of young people and the interventions they require 3. What can we do to ensure practitioners are supported to implement effective interventions to connect with socially excluded young people through providing practice supports Objectives 1. Understand the emerging needs of young people experiencing social exclusion, and the interventions to effectively connect them. 2. Research and document adaptations and best practices in Detached work relevant to the new situation 3. Publish a case study collection to capture the experience of young people, youth workers and service managers in effectively connecting young people who were previously socially excluded 4. Create a Detached Youth Work Practice Framework 5. Disseminate this work as widely as possible among the Detached Youth workers profession as well as any related organisations, agencies, networks, policy makers etc Implementation 1. Project Management Activities Inclusive of developing project management tools, internal comms procedures Gantt chart agreed, Financial Guidelines and Templates risk Management Plan including COVID-19 Risk Aseessment, Project Management meetings 2. Quality Plan / M&E Framework activities Inclusive of developing the quality plan, agreeing evaluation, completing reviews 3. Output 1 - Research Report Activities Inclusive of developing research questions, disseminating surveys, collating results, reviewing with practitiionsers 4. Output 2 - Case Study Collection Activities Inclusive of agreeing templates, compiling results, disseminating 5. Output 3 Task Framework Activities Inclusive of agreeing a method for creating the practice model/competence framework etc, Identify research results that should influence same, Design and test/review by peers, disseminate, collate review, finalise 6. Communication, dissemination and sustainability Activities Inclusive of define obectives, names, content and format of the project webpage, identifying both national audiences/stakehodlers in Partner countries & European level targets, developing message framework and calendar by audience and milestones, with relevant channels Achievements Concrete results and outputs are as follows: 1. Project Management Outputs: Six project managment meetings 2. Research Report Output Publication of a A research report detailing the emerging needs of young people in the post c19 context 3. Case Study Collection Outputs: Five case studies illustrating how detached work supports young people 4. Task Framework Output: Publication of a Task Framework for Detached Youth Work in the post covid context 5. Communication, dissemination and sustainability outputs: A website, social media posts, emails, events, interview and one video to dissemniate the concrete results and communicate the key messages of the project.
