Summary

Background On a societal level we felt the following need: “A fast changing globalized world with challenges in economy, ecology and energy, and on top of that migration and democratic challenges. More imminently an unsustainable economy based on fossil fuel and debt. Growing unemployment, continuing urbanisation, lack of housing, looming climate change with draught, wildfires and possible food scarcity.” This we wrote before: pandemic, before, War, before inflation, before energy crisis. We believe the civic society needs "new" types of competences. Safeguarding basic needs. And doing this on a local level. Grassroot actions. More self sustainability. The coordinator has worked with self-sustainability for 10 years and felt in need of reflection together with peers. To receive inspiration and information from peers on a deeper level. To ask the question: how do you do? What is your strategy? What have you solved that we have not. How do you keep motivation? Our main motivation was to share practices with each other. Objectives We aimed at sharing best practices targeted at youth workers on the topics of: resilience and sustainability. With sustainability meaning; resource management. Exploring competence both within; low tech/traditional and possibly high tech solutions. Within the themes chosen we wanted to see our members/personnel/leaders to develop in competence. Deeper understanding of our role in a bigger picture. Compare to peers and ask ourselves: are we strategic? Are we developing where we want to? How can we become more efficient? What is the "state" of our target groups in the Erasmus arena. Implementation We met several times over internet, and the administrators met physically twice at the coordinator venue for TPM where we dealt with administration of the project and discussed governance of our organizations. During three separate weeks each partner organized a workshop week (LTT) where we thoroughly "shared practices" in an intense program where we shared our specialties. On top of that several spin off activates where the KA 2 had an impact. The self sustainability competences we addressed: Food production - local, small scale, regenerative Building - simply, local, small scale, environmental friendly, natural materials, local materials. Sanitation, sewage, compost - nutritional cycle. Community bonding and governance. Handicraft; Repair and recycle. and also Youth work strategies. Target group strategy. Achievements A clearer vision of what we are doing and why and how we do it. Our participants got inspired and are working harder more dedicated with our day to day projects. A feeling of not being "alone" - a deeper connection to peer organizations A feeling of being part of Europe - feeling that people are doing the same thing with similar values even though they are far away and in another culture. Spin-offs; projects where we use the learnings the LTT produced. Several texts/photos/ produced that are being used in other projects. We trained 30 youth workers (members of our organizations and local participants of our LTTs) in the area of green skills ready to share them during further projects and in their local communities. Majority of the participants of the project during evaluation meetings have claimed that their knowledge and competence in the area of green skills have increased, particularly about permaculture, natural building, community building, renewables, climate education and urban green practices (city communities, upcycling, urban gardening, food sharing, cloth swap, handicraft etc). Rise of awareness about Green Skills - about 200 people in person (during 3 LTTs). We reached 3000 persons online (social media posts).
